Original Item: Only One Available. During the 1930s, various companies in Germany such as Elastolin, Lineol, Marklin, Tippco and Wiking began to make numerous toy soldiers from painted "composite" materials, and later on from plastic. They mostly made German soldiers, but they did also produce soldiers from other countries, so that more complete battle scenes would be created. They were also generally available from each maker in several different sizes.
This is a great Artillery Crew set including an artillery piece, towing dolly, four soldiers, and a small bunch of artillery rounds for display.
There are four soldiers including an officer standing at attention, a soldier knelt down, a soldier knelt down holding an artillery shell, and a very interesting soldier using a rangefinder tripod, with the legs of the tripod actually movable! Wow! There is also a group of 8 artillery shells together, likely also by Elastolin.
The artillery piece has adjustable legs and two wheels, with the breech being able to pull back and lock into place to be released and fired, however there is damage to the mechanism, so it doesn’t make a loud sound. The gun is roughly 10 ½” long, 3 ½” wide, and 4 ¾” tall.
The figures are all in good condition, with deformation and damage but nothing terribly serious. A really fantastic composition figure set from the interwar period, ready to add to your collection!
