Original Item: Only One Available. This is a lovely German WWII stamped metal wall plaque showing a "Patriotic Soldier" of the German Heer Army. They are wearing the WWI M16 version of the iconic "stahlhelm" steel helmet, which during the Pre-War period was still the helmet most associated with the German military. Even during the war the classic design with vent lugs would continue to appear in artistic designs such as this.
The plaque measures 7 5/8" x 9 3/4", is signed on the lower right with P.F. Zimmer, for artist Fritz Paul Zimmer. We have seen this same bust executed in various other types of metal, some framed, some not, and it looks to have been a very popular item. We would expect these were often attached to wooden backing boards so that a personalized message could be attached underneath. A lovely piece of German WWII militaria, ready for further research and display!
