  • Original Item: Only One Available. The Lockheed Ventura is a twin-engine medium bomber and patrol bomber of World War II. The Ventura first entered combat in Europe as a bomber with the RAF in late 1942. Designated PV-1 by the United States Navy (US Navy), it entered combat in 1943 in the Pacific. After USAAF monopolization of land-based bombers was removed, the US Navy ordered a revised design which entered service as the PV-2 Harpoon for anti-submarine work.

Original U.S. PV-2 Harpoon Load Adjuster with its original leather case. Made by Cox & Stevens Aircraft Corporation, of Mineola, New York. The case is marked with the designation for the Harpoon, PV-2 & PV-2C.

This looks similar to a conventional slide rule but was used to ensure the correct weight distribution throughout the airframe depending on the amount of troops on board, whether a jeep or howitzer is included in the payload and so forth. Load Adjusters were crucial tools for pilots and loadmasters alike, especially for a glider.

In excellent unissued condition with sliding perspex 'curser' and leather hardcase. It no longer has the mounting bracket to attach it to a wall. The carrier is serial numbered 150178, but the loaded itself is serial numbered 126275. Measures approximately 13” long in the case.
