Original Items. One-of-a-Kind Lot. This is a really great Civil War Soldier personal item lot, consisting of several pieces that could be found in a Civil War soldier’s kit and belongings. Some items are military, and some are civilian items often used by soldiers.
The items include:
- Soldier’s Spoon & knife multi-tool/utensil marked to Stacey Bros. of Sheffield England with partial panel showing men aboard a ship.
- Set of 14 musket balls & bullets recovered from the battlefield, some shot and some unshot.
- One battlefield-recovered soldier’s button, Federal Eagle “I” Infantry button.
- Small Eagle hat plate, unsure of era but likely post-Civil War, Indian wars era. Unusual.
- One paper “cartridge” with small metal rod. Unsure of type.
- Large soldier’s drinking cup, 4 1/8” tall and 4” in diameter. The cup has some oxidation as shown and may be Confederate from its construction.
- Set of Officer’s Cavalry spurs with original spiked rowels and leather straps. Very difficult to find in this condition. No markings we could find.
An outstanding lot of Civil War items, ready for further research and display!
