Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very interesting WWII Imperial Japanese private purchase winter flight helmet, which appears much more like a winter insulated cap. This example has a large hand-cut 5 pointed Japanese Army Star on the front, with the insignia a bit worn but still well-attached. This example does not have rigid eat cups but instead small holes to the sides with fur-covered flaps that can be fixed in the open or closed position. The interior ears are fur-lined, but the skull cap is not.
The closure for the helmet has a snap, but the strap on the other side does not have a snap closure, nor a hole for a button. The strap may have been cut down from damage. The helmet is missing a button on the right side which would secure the fur flap in the up position. It retains the bottom button. The side snaps are marked CROWN.
A lovely Japanese winter flight helmet, ready for further research and display.
