Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is an excellent large-size framed studio photograph of a German enlisted man in the Heer, the German Army. He appears to be wearing a Deutsches Afrikakorps Tan Uniform and is wearing a 2nd pattern DAK Afrikakorps Sun Helmet with the Heer eagle clearly shown on the left side. He is interestingly wearing an SS Totenkopf Skull Badge on his shirt’s tie, a strange decision that has left us quite puzzled.
His shoulder straps denote an enlisted man, and the helmet badge certainly denotes that he is in the Heer, which is what makes the SS badge particularly confusing. This would be a great research project for someone.
The frame is modern and measures 17⅛ x 20⅛”. Because it is a sealed frame and is covered on the back with paper, we cannot remove it from the frame to see if there are any inscriptions on the back of the photo.
An interesting example, ready for display.
