Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very interesting German WWII camouflage jacket / tunic , made by a unit or depot tailor from pieces of a double sided Army Splinter Pattern (Heeres Splittermuster 31) fabric used to make Zeltbahn Poncho / Tent Quarter. These utilize a water repellent material called Makostoff, so this would have been a great thing to have during warm and wet conditions.

The front of the jacket features a eight button front closure, however the top two buttons are missing, with the balance being the standard German WWII issue pebbled metal buttons. These are sewn directly to the fabric, with some being aluminum, while others are magnetic. We can see that there have been some stitch repairs to the button holes, and some of the buttons may have been re-stitched, indicating long service. There are not any markings on the tunic, but it definitely shows a relatively high level of manufacture. It has a collar as well as a hanger strap in the back of the neck. There is also what looks to be a sleeve around the waist for some type of securing tie, but there is none installed in the sleeve. There are not any locations for rank insignia or the like that we can see, which of course would ruin the camouflage profile.

The jacket does show staining, tears, fraying, and other signs of use, so it definitely was used for a good amount of time after being constructed zeltbahn fabric. We can also see some areas that look to have either been exposed to bleach or watered down tan paint, which has resulted in some light areas on the jacket.
