Original Item: Only One Available. The 3.7 cm Flak 18/36/37/43 was a series of anti-aircraft cannon produced by NSDAP Germany that saw widespread service in the Second World War. The cannon was fully automatic and effective against aircraft flying at altitudes up to 4,200 m. The cannon was produced in both towed and self-propelled versions. Having a flexible doctrine, the Germans used their anti-aircraft pieces in ground support roles as well; 37 mm caliber guns were no exception to that. With Germany's defeat, production ceased and, overall, 37 mm caliber anti-aircraft cannon fell into gradual disuse.

This ammunition box was used to safely transport FLAK shells. The case itself is nearly identical to the German WWII M24 Stick Grenade Case, however the internal rack is different. This excellent example is in the original Afrikakorps tan color paint with original black paint stencil on the exterior writing that reads:

3,7cm FLAK 18

The interior is missing all of the internals and the paper label. There are some other markings to the exterior which are hard to read. There is heavy oxidation across the box which makes it difficult to close.

This is a rare box as for a gun that decimated Allied planes as they approached the French coast and the major German cities, a must for any German WW2 artillery or ordnance collection.
