Original Item. Only One Available. This is a gorgeous Civil War Era powder flask featuring a quite macabre scene of “Dead Game”, several hunted animals hanging upside down to “dry”. The flask was made by James Dixon & Sons of Sheffield, one of the major British manufacturers of the Industrial Revolution. The depiction is on only one side of the flask.
The spring is retained and functional, so the spout cutoff works great. The flask measures approximately 8 3/4” long. The cap still screws on and off without issue. There is no powder remaining in the flask and there is some seam-splitting along the edge. This example dates to the Civil War period, but was likely meant as a hunting flask given the depiction. A very beautiful flask that will fit well into any Civil War or 19th Century firearm collection!
