  • Original Items. Only One Pair Available. This is a very scarce pair of Austro-Hungarian WWI era sword/bayonet knots. A sword knot is a traditional lanyard or cord attached to the hilt of a sword. Originally, soldiers looped it around their wrists during mounted combat to prevent losing the weapon if it was dropped. Today, these knots are largely ornamental and serve as required ceremonial uniform accessories.

Sword knots of the WWI period are very difficult to find on their own. This set includes two for use by officers of the Austro-Hungarian empire. One is yellow and black, made from embroidered fabric. These colors are used by officers of the empire. The knot would either be attached to a sword guard or to the small swivels on an M90 bayonet. The interior of this knot is black.

The second knot is of bullion with the Austro-Hungarian eagle on both sides of the piece attached to the knot itself. The interior of this knot is red.

Both knots are in excellent condition and will look outstanding attached to your Austro-Hungarian sword/bayonet.
