Original Item. Only One Available. This is an outstanding WWI era bronze statue of a German Hussar made by Hermann Noack of Friedenau. The company was founded by Hermann Noack in 1897, with early support from the sculptors August Gaul and Fritz Klimsch. Noack was born in Oberlausitz and educated in Lauchhammer. He learned his craft at the Gladenbeck foundry before setting up his own business. He had worked on the National Kaiser Wilhelm Monument by Reinhold Begas.
The bronze depicts a German Hussar, more than likely from the Franco-Prussian War period. He holds a long cavalry saber in his left hand and holds his chin while pondering with his right hand.
The statue measures 16¾” tall and sits upon a 5 x 5¾” base. It weighs 12.6lbs. The back is marked to the maker:
H. NOACK
FRIEDENAU
The detailing is rather fantastic, and this is one of the greatest German bronze statues we have offered.
