Original Item: One of a Kind. This is a very interesting German Pre-WWII Machine Gun training commemorative plaque, which looks to have been for the NCOs in machine gun companies. The plaque features a 4 5/8" wide non-magnetic plated metal plate embossed with a prone soldier firing an Maxim MG 08/15, the iconic German Machine gun of WWII. Under this is a small plate with the following inscription:
Uffz. Korps 1/76
1.10.37 - 1.11.38
These are both attached to a wooden backing plate measuring 6 1/4"W x 9 3/4"H, which has a hanger loop on the top. We assume that these were distributed to the members of "Unteroffizier Korps 1/76", which is a unit that we have not been able to locate. During the immediate pre-war years there were multiple training formations to prepare the German forces for the war that by that point was almost inevitable. A lovely piece of German WWII militaria, ready for further research and display!
