New Made Item: Top quality embroidery- The 1st Armored Division ("Old Ironsides") is an armored division of the United States Army. The division was formed in 1940 from the older 7th Mechanized Cavalry Brigade. It was nicknamed "Old Ironsides" by the first commander, Major General Bruce Magruder, who was inspired by the USS Constitution.
During WWII this division took part in Operation Torch, the Allied invasion of North Africa, and later spent the remainder of the war as part of the Italian Campaign.
