An absolutely original, untouched Civil War Model U.S. Light Cavalry saber with three branch brass Guard serial numbered "16", all the grip leather beautifully intact with all the original brass wire binding tightly in place. Traditional 35" curved blade with fuller in bright condition showing age staining only at the corners. Marked at the guard in an oval "MANSFIELD & LAMB, FORESTDALE" (Mass?) and on the other side "
U.S. 1864" and with the inspector's marks "L.W." This Saber still contained in its original all steel curved scabbard with two suspension rings. The Scabbard throat now absent, otherwise the entire item just as it was found after nearly 140 years in the attic. A highly desirable ORIGINAL "unplayed with" U.S. Civil War Cavalry Saber with scabbard! Amazing.
