Prussian Brass Parade Breast Plate: WW1 (One Only)

Item Description

Original Item: One Only. This is an original Prussian WW1 era Parade Breast Plate constructed of a steel frame with a large brass panel and brass studs surrounding. The two studs that would have supported the back plate straps are absent. However, in the center of the breastplate, is the original embossed cypher dated 1712-1912 of Frederich the Great the legendary 18th century Military Hero of Prussia.

Used for parade purposes only, these types of breastplates were very lightly constructed and were designed for comfort/convenience rather than any sort of protection. From a private Collection, this was purchased some thirty years ago in Germany from Castle Sale where it had been on display with a stand of arms for the previous 50 years.
