  • Original Item: Only One Available. Almost certainly a British soldier's "bring back" this is a totally original to the period ZULU war axe, traditionally referred to as a selepe, carried in the left hand behind the cowhide shield. The short stabbing iklwa spear was carried in the right hand.


    The iron blade measures just over 7" mounted on a wood shaft of just over 29" in overall length. Sharp edge long ago dulled probably to save the children in the British soldier's household.


    A Classic, unique is design, ZULU weapon from the time of their greatest victory at Isandlwanna and final defeat in 1879 at Ulundi.
