Original Zulu War Hardwood Knobkierie War Club - Circa 1879

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Almost certainly brought home to England by a British Soldier after the ZULU Campaign in South Africa in 1879. This fine knobkerrie war club measures 27.5" in overall length, the "ball" has a 3" diameter.

This is the classic War Club of the famed Zulu Warriors as used at Rorkes Drift, the famous action commemorated in the Movie "ZULU" staring Stanley Baker and Micheal Caine about the 1879 battle that resulted in the awarding of ELEVEN Victoria Crosses, Great Britain's highest award for Valor. A Great Battle, a Great Movie and a Great Story!

Constructed from a serious South African hardwood this is very substantial which is the quickest way to differentiate the real thing from modern after-market tourist reproductions. The ball is made as an integral part of the shaft and not added, giving the weapon added strength for combat and conforming to vintage traditional methods of manufacture.
