Original WWII U.S. Navy MK-2 Collins & Co. Legitimus Long Jungle Machete dated 1944 with Canvas Scabbard
Original Items: Only one available. These long machetes are extremely rare on today's market, especially in such good condition, with their original scabbards. Made by Collins & Co. of Hartford, Conn, this is a LEGITIMUS model long jungle machete. The Machete has an impressive overall length of 27 1/2 inches, with a slightly curved 22 inch Bush/Collins machete shape blade. The blade is about 2 1/4 inches wide at the thickest point. The ricasso is nicely marked:
COLLINS & CO.
The blade is in very good condition, thought it does show some use and staining. It has been sharpened several times, so this was a machete that did not spent its life in the scabbard. There are also some nicks and dents on the edge, and some overall light staining from age. The bakelite handle is in very good shape, with no chips, cracks, or other major issues.
The machete comes with a very good "U.S.N." / Mk.2 marked canvas scabbard with a rawhide throat, which is in good used condition. The canvas does have staining, and it has faded a bit from service, but is still intact, with a complete belt loop.
An very nice WWII dated U.S. Navy Collins Legitimus machete, complete with its canvas scabbard, ready to display!
