Original Item. Only One Available. This is an original WWII U.S. Drill Cartridge M15 / M15B1 for 3-inch guns, manufactured in 1943 and intended for training gun crews in the handling, loading, unloading, and fuze-setting procedures associated with full-size service ammunition. The cartridge is completely inert and cannot function as live ammunition or be converted into an explosive device. As with all deactivated ordnance, this item is not available for export.
This is a good example which is marked on the fuze R.C. 328697-2. It is painted orange and is two pieces, which cannot be removed from the round. The side of the round itself near the bottom is stamped M 15 B1 vertically. The bottom of the casing is faintly stamped:

MMC 1943
This denotes a manufacture date of 1943. Great information about the guns that this round could have been used in! The round measures 33¾” overall and has good wear across.
The surviving M15B1 body marking, 1943 MMC date, full weapon designation, orange drill finish, and inert fuze assembly make this a particularly informative example of WWII U.S. artillery and tank-destroyer training equipment. Rather than simply representing inert ordnance, it shows the type of full-size instructional ammunition used to train crews on some of the most important American 3-inch gun systems of the war.
