Original Item: Only One Available. This is a fantastic totally inert, wood and steel construction drill round for the USN 3 in./50 calibers QF gun that weighs about 21lbs., and measures 32 1/2” in length.
The round is in very good condition and is weighted to match a live shell for accurate training handling purposes. The base plate is is black painted steel, and while faint, the markings on the bottom can be read:
329486 G.F.J. V.M.C. 1944
MK. 6 50 CAL 3" DUMMY CARTRIDGE
The wood condition is great, with a lovely color, though there is some cracking in the main body due to age. This example also features a wooden dummy fuse with a metal interior. The round does look to have been lacquered at some point during its life, though we do not know if this happened during or after service.
This is a great piece of World War II artillery and naval memorabilia which will make a very impressive display!
