Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice genuine steel construction M34 "Square Dip" Third Reich helmet, outfitted for German WWII civic police issue. During the war, it was captured by members of the United States, and then decorated as a lovely USGI Bring back! The front of the helmet has been painted with the "A" insignia of the First United States Army, inside a yellow shield:
GERMANY
'44 (A Insignia) '45
FIRST ARMY
On the right side of the helmet it is painted with FRANCE / ENGLAND, and the left side is painted BELGIUM / HOLLAND. These words are added around the decals on either side. Bring back items such as these are fantastic, and great collectors items. A real trophy of War from WWII Germany!
The helmet also genuine double decals of Civic Police Reichsadler (National Eagle) and NSDAP swas (hook cross). Comes with a complete leather liner attached my metal spacers, with all split pins. The liner is however relatively deteriorated, with a lot of cracking to the leather. It does still have a top securing strap, but it looks to be a shoelace. The leather chin strap is is almost completely missing, with only about 4 inches remaining, which is in delicate condition like the rest of the leather.
The exterior of this German helmet retains much of the original black paint, with overall wear and speckling. The decals are both complete, but show checking and wear from age. There is also a faint DRP / THALE stamp next to a large letter A on the rear skirt, indicating production by the Eisenhüttenwerke, Thale factory. There is also a bit of the "Lion" logo above the markings visible. Interestingly, the "cutouts" where a Fire comb would be fit are visible, but have been filled in with large split pins.
Overall a great opportunity to get a wonderful U.S. First Army marked USGI Bring back German WWII Civic Police helmet. Ready to display!
