  • Original Item: Only One Available. Original U.S. Waco Glider (CG-4A) Load Adjuster with its original leather case and box with instructions. Made by Cox & Stevens Aircraft Corporation, of Mineola, New York. The case is marked with the designation for the Waco, CG-4A, along with the Navy/Marine Corps designation for the Waco, LRW-1. On the front of the case reads DO NOT REMOVE FROM AIRPLANE.

This looks similar to a conventional slide rule but was used to ensure the correct weight distribution throughout the airframe depending on the amount of troops on board, whether a jeep or howitzer is included in the payload and so forth. Load Adjusters were crucial tools for pilots and loadmasters alike, especially for a glider.

In excellent unissued condition with sliding perspex 'curser' and leather hardcase. It even has the metal mounting bracket to attach it to a wall, possibly inside a glider. The set is serial numbered 55461 on the hanger and 42-56593 on the small paper on the back.

The original box retains markings on one end denoting this as for the CG-4A LRW with serial number 55461, the number on the hanger. The instructions are in great shape and really tie the set together. The corners of the box are splitting.

The WACO participated in the American Airborne landings in Normandy in June 1944 as well as in other important airborne operations in Europe and the CBI theatre. Measures approximately 13” long in the case.
