This looks similar to a conventional slide rule but was used to ensure the correct weight distribution throughout the airframe depending on the amount troops on board, whether a jeep or howitzer is included in the payload and so forth. Load Adjusters were crucial tools for pilots and loadmasters alike, especially for a glider.
In excellent unissued condition with sliding perspex 'curser' and leather hardcase. It even has the metal mounting bracket to attach it to a wall. possibly inside a glider. The WACO participated in the American Airborne landings in Normandy in June 1944 as well as in other important airborne operations in Europe and the CBI theatre.
