Original WWII U.S. 9th Air Force “Ike” Uniform with Bullion SSI & Wings

Original Item: Only one Available. This is an excellent condition “Ike” uniform from the legendary 9th Air Force who had a great contribution to the Allied victory in Europe during WWII.
The Ninth Air Force, like the British Second Tactical Air Force, was created primarily to support ground forces fighting in Western Europe. The D-Day landings marked the beginning of the Ninth Air Force's most well-known period of wartime service, but by June 6, 1944, it had been in combat for over two years and was in the second part of its colorful history.
Furthermore, the Ninth Air Force of Normandy and Western Europe served in a completely different capacity than it did in 1942 and 1943, when it was a multipurpose United States Army air force assigned to support British forces and perform strategic bombing missions in the Middle East.
The Ninth Air Force was formed in an unusual manner, mostly as a result of Allied reactions to enemy activities in various parts of the world. The Allied Combined Chiefs of Staff decided in early 1942 to treat the Far East and the Middle East as interdependent regions of action, with resources distributed according to the military situation at the time. Because the established aviation routes from the United States and Europe to the Far East traveled through the Middle East, it was only natural to examine the two areas together in the event of an emergency.
This is a wonderful uniform with original bullion silver pilot wings. There is no visible damage to it. All buttons and suspension hooks are present and still stitched, as well as all the insignia. Both sleeves have "Technician, 3rd Grade" chevron insignia on them, and the left sleeve has three overseas service bars, for 18 months overseas. There are laundry markings on the lining of the uniform. The first letter is an O, which was the first letter of the last name of the person who wore it. The size is 38.
In the middle of the silver pilot wings, there is a shield with wings, which stands for aerial crewmen. Below the bullion silver pilot wings, there is a ribbon bar with an Army Good Conduct Medal red & white ribbon on the left, and the European–African–Middle Eastern Campaign Medal ribbon on the right, with a single star. The star shows that the person who wore this uniform, saw at least one specific battlefield in Europe.
Of interest is that there is no WWII Victory medal ribbon or a "ruptured duck" patch, so this uniform represents the configuration used during the war.
