Original Item: Only One Available. This is a nice example of an Original WWII Japanese Officer’s Private Purchase Canteen. This was likely brought home by an American GI as a war trophy from the South Pacific.
These private purchase canteens were used by officers of all branches of the Japanese Armed Forces during WWII. It features an aluminum body with a removable small drinking cup which secures to the top. Under the cup, an aluminum topped cork stopper is still in place. The gabardine wool cover still retains all of its original functional snaps, and exhibits numerous holes and button pull throughs. There is a name on one side. The original leather shoulder strap is retained and is in good shape, just cracking and crazing. Ready to add to your collection!
