Original WWII Japanese Navy Ships Signal Morse Code Lantern

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. We’ve never seen this type of lantern before, and can find no other example anywhere on the market. This signal lantern bears a Japanese Navy data plate with anchor.

It measures 10” H x 8” W

Comprised mainly of brass and what appears to be a zinc alloy, it is very well made and features an internal batter compartment, sliding colored red and green glass filters (green lens is absent), a forward focused thick clear lens and a thumb button that allows for morse code. Based on the construction and quality of the materials it may date to the early 1930s. All wiring and contact points appear to be present. We have not tested it for function but can see no reason, with the correct power source and perhaps some tinkering that it would not work.
