Original WWII Italian Regia Aeronautica Air Force Pilot Uniform Tunic with Milan Made Pilot Wings
Original Item: Only One Available. Rare WWII Italian Air Force Pilot’s Uniform complete with full insignia and ribbons! These rarely come up for sale on the market, and this is the very first specimen we have ever had the pleasure of offering!
A beautiful, hand-tailored service dress tunic for a Lieutenant of the Regia Aeronatica (the Italian Air Force from 1923 to 1943). The tunic is tailored from a medium blue-grey finished wool. Italian uniforms had a unique double buckle integrated belt for a trimmer fit and neater appearance. The Buckles on the waistband of this particular garment are handsomely fire blued.Unlike most Air Forces where officers bought their uniforms from private tailors, the Italians were issued uniforms made by the government. This officer made sure to get a good one. There is no maker or tailor label and the tunic is, unfortunately, unnamed.
The coat is fitted with Lieutenant insignia on each cuff, Aviation Pioneer (Engineer) Insignia on each Shoulder, Bullion Stars on each collar lapel. The ribbon bar consists of an Italian War Medit Medal, German/Italian North African Campaign medal, and an Italian 1940-1943 Campaign Medal with three stars (each denoting one year… indicating this uniform as it sits presents as how it was worn around the time of the Italian Armistice). Interestingly enough, the jacket is fitted with a German Russian Front Campaign Medal, worn in the German style.
The wings are in beautiful condition, and nicely maker marked on the reverse S.Johnson / P.Nuova 15/ Milano.
This is an incredible uniform which rarely is seen on the market today! Ready to Display!
