Original Item: Only One Available. This excellent condition black wool fez with a stamped metal badge with the fascist eagle and letters ONB. The cap is unlined and is in excellent condition. The tassel is in good order. A great example, ready for further research and display.
The Opera Nazionale Balilla (ONB) was formed in 1926 and was Mussolini's instrument of indoctrinating the youth (ages 8 - 14) into the disciplines of fascism. Seen as an addition to conventional school education, the ONB were also a paramilitary group, preparing boys to become future soldiers, with a uniform that was influenced by the style of the Blackshirt fascist militia.
