Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very interesting original Italian WWII-era Fasci Giovanili di Combattimento, or FGC, militia fez, worn by a member of the Fascist youth organization associated with the National Fascist Party. The fez retains its original front badge, black fringe, and interior maker markings for Emilio Della Nave of Florence.
The front carries an FGC badge stitched in place, apparently manufactured from aluminum, lead, or a similar light metal. The badge remains firmly attached and is one of the most distinctive features of the cap.
The fez has a very worn and cracking leather sweatband which shows material loss. There is a maker mark which is now not readable, but the same marking is on the silk crown:

This is for the maker Emilio Della Nave of Florence, Italy. There is no size marking, but it is roughly a size 6 ¾.
The Fasci Giovanili di Combattimento were a youth organization of the National Fascist Party intended to prepare older youths and young men for political, paramilitary, and military service. Uniform items such as this fez formed part of the highly regimented visual culture associated with Italian Fascist youth organizations during the interwar and wartime periods.
The combination of the FGC front badge, surviving black fringe, Emilio Della Nave maker marking, Florence retail address, and original interior construction makes this a strong representative example of Italian Fascist youth headgear. The moth damage and deteriorated sweatband are the principal condition issues, while the surviving maker information and organization badge provide the most important historical features.
