  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is a wonderful image of a pilot with the Imperial Japanese Army Air Service. It is a 2" x 2 ½" portrait, which is enclosed in a 7 ½" x 5 ⅛" frame. The frame features Kanji characters in the lower right corner, unfortunately, we have not been able to translate the characters fully.

However, the frame seems to have been used as some sort of presentation, possibly for a soldier/pilot who was killed in action. The photograph is in excellent condition, and it is apparent that great care was taken to preserve it. The pilot is dressed in a military uniform, with a cap, a parachute harness, and what appears to be the standard Japanese pilot coveralls. The picture captures a sense of pride and honor, which is evident in the pilot's expression.

This photograph is not only a testament to the skill and bravery of the Imperial Japanese Army Air Service but also a reminder of the sacrifices made during wartime by both the Axis and Allies. It is a valuable historical artifact, and it offers a glimpse into the lives of those who served in the military of the past.

A great photo that comes more than ready for further research and display.
