  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very good original German WWII Luftwaffe LKp S101 summer flying helmet, constructed from tan cloth with a silk lining and fitted with its leather-covered earphone housings and surviving Siemens communications components. The internal specification label identifies the helmet as a size 62 LKp S101, Gerät-Nr. 124-436 B, with Anforderungszeichen Ln 26617. It was manufactured for the Luftwaffe by Luftfahrt-Gerätewerk Hakenfelde G.m.b.H. under Siemens labeling. The external wiring has been cut away at the rear, leaving the helmet incomplete electrically, but the earphones themselves remain present and in good condition.

    The inner label reads:

    FL. Kopfhaube Gr. 62
    Baumuster LKp S101
    Gerät - Nr 124-436 B
    Werk - Nr -/
    Anf. Z Ln 26617
    Siemens
    Lieferer: Luftfahrt-
    Gerätewerk Hakenfelde
    G.m.b.H.

This is a nice condition original helmet which does have some wear, and the wiring is entirely gone now, cut off at the back of the helmet. There are no avionics, but the headphones are in good shape and are marked Ln 26602.

The LKp S101 was used broadly by Luftwaffe flying personnel rather than being restricted exclusively to fighter pilots. Surviving period references identify it with aircraft equipped for radio communications across fighter, bomber, reconnaissance, and training units.

With its tan summer cloth construction, silk lining, size 62 label, LKp S101 designation, Gerät-Nr. 124-436 B, Ln 26617 requirement number, Siemens identification, Luftfahrt-Gerätewerk Hakenfelde supplier marking, and surviving leather-covered earphones, this is a strong representative example of German WWII Luftwaffe flight headgear despite the loss of its external wiring.
