Original Item: Only One Available. The grip of this 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger is white and in fine condition. It remains in perfect condition throughout, and is tightly wrapped with twisted brass wire. If you look beneath the wire that separate the ribs traces of lighter color can be seen. A beautiful grip here, demonstrating perfectly the amazing transformations nature can affect on a chemically volatile substance like celluloid.
The hilt mounts are similarly great on this dagger. The pommel is crisp and excellent. The swas on both sides is extremely bold, and the oak leaves around it is raised out and heavily hand enhanced. The aluminum pommel also has much of the original factory blackening in the backgrounds.
The crossguard is the style that goes with this type of pommel, having the eagle with a breast and talon area that is vaulted out much more so than the normal crossguards we see. This guard shows little wear and has excellent feathering on the eagle. The bird, of course, flies to the left and grasps a mobile swas in his talons. The reverse panel is decorated with small pebbling and still has a good portion of the original factory blackening, particularly around the protected areas at the edges. The ferrule is a fine, steel example. A really great hilt here!
This scabbard is a fine, straight example, having good tones silver plating. The bands are well defined and have outstanding hand enhanced oak leaves tipped at a 45 degree angle. The throat is retained by a single steel screw.
As we often see on Klaas pieces, the blade of this example is a nickel-plated type. It still remains nice and bright and is in excellent bright condition with a needle-like tip. The blade itself grades at about Excellent. The reverse of the blade has the familiar Kissing Cranes logo of the Klaas firm, and the original blade washer is in place deep within the recesses of the guard.A really great 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger here offered in fine condition.
