Original Item: Only One Available. This is an incredible, totally inert, BATF compliant original German WWII SMi.-35 S-Mine, with one pressure activated fuse that was designed to resemble blades of grass.
Unloaded or dummy grenades, artillery shell casings, and similar devices, which are cut or drilled in an BATF-approved manner so that they cannot be used as ammunition components for destructive devices, are NOT considered NFA weapons. This example is in total compliance and is totally inert. NOT AVAILABLE FOR EXPORT.
The mine appears to retain its original paint, but the outer shell has very heavy oxidation pitting and paint loss. It is marked on the top with:

The code likely means the 95th lot of 1944. The code gqv is for Pommersche Industrie Werke GmbH, a maker of Nb. H. Gr 39B smoke grenades and S-Mines.
The fuze stem is stamped on the side with 43 evy for 1943 manufacture by Witwe Wilhelm von Hagen, Iserlohn Westfalen. This firm is a metalworking business who manufactured grenades and artillery shell fuses during the war.
Overall an excellent example of an extremely rare S-mine. These are banned from import to the USA (and export) so only examples that came back with WWII veterans after the war are available, making these incredibly difficult to find on the collector's market.
The German S-mine (Schrapnellmine, Springmine or Splittermine in German), also known as the "Bouncing Betty", is the best-known version of a class of mines known as bounding mines. When triggered, these mines launch into the air and then detonate at about 0.9 meters (3 ft). The explosion projects a lethal spray of shrapnel in all directions. The S-mine was an anti-personnel mine developed by Germany in the 1930s and used extensively by German forces during World War II. It was designed to be used in open areas against unshielded infantry. Two versions were produced, designated by the year of their first production: the SMi-35 and SMi-44. There are only minor differences between the two models.
