The old man was no fool, he only bought the best, mostly sterling silver but a few in hall marked gold. Each Broach displays the emblem of the Soldier's Regiment. Formed in 1716 under King George 1st The Royal Regiment of Artillery commonly known as The Royal Artillery. In action, all the time, everywhere. One of the largest Regiments in the British Army of which Queen Elizabeth 2nd is the Colonel-General-in-Chief. Actually consisting of 16 Standard Regiments and 6 Reserve Regiments.
This silver Sweetheart broach features the King's Crown picked out in red enamel over silver artillery piece with Regimental mottos above and beneath picked out in blue enamel, "UBIQUE" (Everywhere) and "QUO FAS ET GLORIA DUCUNT" which translates to "WHERE RIGHT AND GLORY LEAD".
Mounted on crossbar almost 2" wide.
