Original WWII British Royal Air Force Female Officer Knit Doll
Original Item: Only one available. Now, the story with this piece is that it came from an RAF WW2 Collection, mostly of uniforms and apparently this charming doll of a W.R.A.F. Officer was knitted as a "self portrait" so to speak by a young lady who was actually posted in one of England's RAF war rooms.
This was where a large table map was laid out and reports of incoming bombers were charted for fighter command. (We've all seen these rooms in the movies).
Well apparently this was not as exciting as so often portrayed and these ladies had a lot of down time but couldn't leave the table, so many different pastimes were pursued.
Still in amazingly good condition, bearing in mind that the recipient was probably the officer's little daughter. Doll has lost of detail, including the required military bun hairstyle of the era. Just wonderful! A real little genuine WWII Lady who can live at your house quietly.
10 inches tall.
