Original WWII British Military One-Penny Piece Cigarette Lighter Dated 1944

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Item Available. In WW2 times were hard, raw materials were short, the rationing was killing everybody but still morale was high in British Isles.

Here is a typical patriotic item manufactured at the time of D-Day that many British soldiers carried to France as an everyday reminder of the "King and England".

Made from solid brass this is in fact two one-penny pieces used in the construction of perhaps the British answer to the American Zippo? A lovely petrol fueled thumb striking cigarette lighter showing the head of King George the Sixth on one side and Britannia on the other over the date of 1944.

Still retains the flint reservoir with screw cap and the petrol compartment containing absorbent material to hold the fuel with original cap still in place. The wick is present still retains the cover and the lighter appears to be in full working order.

A charming D-Day item obtained from a deceased British veteran's widow!
