Original Items: Only One Set of 5 Available. Political cartoons, often full of humorous caricatures of major figures, are one of the most enduring forms of political commentary, in use around the world. During wartime however, these often become far more pointed, often used both as a source of humor but also as home front propaganda and morale boosters. This is a great set of 5 anti-axis political cartoon mailing items, 4 post cards and one envelope, which show a great range of the various types in use during wartime around the world. The post cards all measure approximately 3 1/2" x 5 1/2", and do not look to have been mailed besides one.
This lovely set includes:
● “GREETINGS FROM U.S. TO U” depicting American planes dropping bombs on Japanese soldiers, dated 1942. This example was posted.
● “WEATHER REPORT: HOT IN LOWER REGIONS FOLLOWING HEAVY REIGN” depicting bombs and bullets hitting the behind of a Japanese soldier. Silly example.
● “YOU TELLUM, SOLDIER BOY” depicting a U.S. soldier about to shoot Tojo up against a wall. Very nice example.
● “REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR” depicting Uncle Sam spanking the bottom of a Japanese soldier.
● Adolf H Caricature envelope depicting him eating a copy of Mein Kampf. 50th Anniversary of Motion Pictures stamp.
A fantastic collector's set from WWII, ready to display!
