Original Items: Only One Lot of Two Available. This is a fantastic opportunity to add a pair of WWII used binoculars to your collection, one of which was captured by the U.S. Navy from the Germans!
The first set of binoculars is a German made pair by Busch Prisma-Binocle. These binoculars are in good condition. The glass looks fairly clean and can be used still today! The leather strap is still intact. It has the serial number 141636 on it and the letters D.R.G.M. which stands for loosely as the “German Reich Utility Model” and can be found on the right side.
On the other sider, U.S. NAVY has been carved into the surface, indicating that it was either captured or found. It was very common for both the allies and axis to use each other's equipment when it was captured, found or even traded. There is even a ‘new’ serial number: A6945
The second set of binoculars is a British made pair, manufactured by Taylor-Hobson. These Prism No 2 MKII x6 1941 military binoculars were issued to British, Canadian and allied forces during World War II. Taylor Hobson was founded in 1886 and became known to manufacture high quality binoculars during WWI and WWII. In 1939 this company was tasked with producing over 2,000 sets of binoculars a month.
The only prismatic binoculars to have ever been manufactured by Taylor Hobson were for military use during WWII.
Both sets show signs of moderate use and wear with no signs of significant damage and are both still functioning just as they were intended.
