  • Original Item: One Only. This set came straight out of someone's attic. Great quality but clearly an item from the earlier part of the last century. Whether it was used by a diplomat, an F.B.I. agent or a high ranking Military Officer, it immediately brings up visions of covert actions, spies and military secrets.

A good quality leather Attache case with brass lock and fittings and leather securing straps, heavily stamped to front:

    CASE, SPECIAL LAWYER TYPE 2,
    SPECIFICATION No. KK-C-121b
    STOCK No.8330-080880
    CONTRACT No.AF-33(038)-29936
    THE LEATHER SPECIALTY CO.
    U.S. PROPERTY.

The interior has three sections each divided by leather panels. The Case measures 16" X 12" with carry handle to top.

The Handcuffs, made from perhaps once nickel plated polished steel, were manufactured by:

    THE PEERLESS HANDCUFF COMPANY,
    SPRINGFIELD, MASS.

Serial Numbered 18865 with patent dates, the latest "1915". Fortunately the Original key is still present on its own safety pin type attachment.

A really fascinating set, perhaps with research the Contract number may be able to shed some light on which Government Department was issued with this high security Briefcase. Cleaned but still as it came out of the attic.
