Original WWI Austro-Hungarian Empire K.U.K. Police Metal Pickelhaube Helmet

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Austrian and Hungary were key allies to Germany in World War One, and her army and police force wore the German-influenced Pickelhauben spike helmets. Original WW1 Austira-Hungary World War One pickelhaubes are almost impossible to come across nowadays. K.U.K refers to kaiserlich-königlich, meaning imperial-royal.

This example is in overall very good condition. It features anon-removable ball finial as opposed to the more traditional spike. The wappen boasts an elaborate FJ1 in ornamental script to honor Franz Joseph the First.  Roundel-style cockardes are matching, both of which bear the double-headed eagle crest of the Dual Monarchy of Austria Hungary's Hapsburg dynasty.  All of these components, including the visor trim are of brushed steel, and are not dented, marred or rusted. The original leather chinstrap is complete and of similar condition as the rest of the helmet.

The visors are not bent, but there is one spot on the inside visor that shows some slight cracking. The steel body is in excellent shape with some minor paint flaking in one area. The leather leather liner is complete but is missing the central tie strap. Overall condition is very good, a nice eye catching Great War era Pickelhaube from the Austrian Hungarian Empire!
