Original WW1 British / French Coin Decorated Round Brass Trench Lighter

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Although this does display a French copper coin on one side, this was almost certainly made by a British Tommy for use in WW1's trenches where time was heavy on their hands. The other side of the lighter displays the "Old Head" of QUEEN VICTORIA herself. Although she died in 1901 most people revered her so much that she lived on in their minds.

This very smart brass constructed lighter is beautifully made and is the first we have seen actually representing two nations. Every Tommy had one, as smoking was virtually the only vice available at that time in the trenches. Measures 2 inches across. Ready to use or display, truly very nice.
