Original Wolf Jaw Bone Hilted Hunting Knife with Tooled Leather Scabbard

Original Item: One only. This is a very interesting item which appears very old. Constructed from the right hand jawbone of a Wolf, mounted to a 7 1/2" plain blade that is in very good condition, and is still quite sharp. It is contained very nicely in its original tooled leather scabbard, which is embossed with spiral motifs, as well as a snake.
The knife is quite comfortable to hold in the right hand, which tells us this was very carefully made and intended for use and not just display. It came to us as a "barn find", and we have only cleaned the item to put it in its best light. Most probably early 19th century.
It was found in upper New York State, so it is very possibly American Indian in origin but beyond that unfortunately we do not have any further information. Ready to display.
