Original Item. Only One Available. This is an extremely scarce offering, an original ChiCom-provided Recoilless Rifle round supplied to the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War, well-marked and also marked with U.S. EOD labels, meaning that this round was likely used in a familiarization or training course. The round comes in its original canister which even retains the carrying strap. Like all deactivated ordnance, this round is Not Available for Export.
The round measures roughly 28” tall, and the projectile cannot be removed from the casing. The fuze can be removed, however, which shows that there’s an additional EOD sticker under the fuze to show that it’s inert. The fuze cover is also intact, and when removed shows the button. There are various Chinese markings across the fuze and projectile. The side of the body of the round is stamped 46-67-376, which we believe to denote a 1967 manufacture date.
The casing is marked with several Chinese symbols and other stamps including 8-67-43, which likely also indicates a 1967 date. The casing does not retain the rod, and instead there is a strange paper roll inside which we aren’t sure about the origins of. There is some denting in the side of the casing as shown.
The original canister measures about 24½” long and is roughly 4” in diameter. There are various Chinese markings on the side, including 12-64-43, which likely indicates a 1964 date of manufacture. It retains the original canvas carrying strap, very rare to find on its own. The lid still latches correctly and the round fits like a glove.
A fantastic offering, ready for further research and display!
