  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is a great example of a correct Wartime configuration Vietnam War North Vietnamese Army (NVA) Issue Sun (or Pith) Helmet. These have gotten increasingly hard to find over the last few years, as the market is mostly flooded with post-1975 versions! This helmet has all the correct features of an early 1970’s issue helmet; “Low Dome” profile, vinyl type chinstrap, and Green Painted Pink Fiber Suspension. Unfortunately there is no badge on this example, nor does it appear to have ever been one which is common for late war production.

This example is marked on the band (likely by the GI who captured it) with different locations including HOANG DUNG M67, THANH BA, and LHXN DET HONG GAM. A great research opportunity! There’s also some Vietnamese written on the liner band.

These were prized souvenirs for GI’s serving in-country during the Vietnam War, for those who were lucky enough to obtain one.
