Original Vietnam War Era Japanese Made M1917 Bolo by KIFFE With WWI Brauer Bros 1918 Dated Scabbard

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a lovely example of an M1917 Bolo made by KIFFE, a Japanese based company in the early 1960s. According to retired employees, the company had a very large quantity of the WWI M1917 bolo scabbards and had trouble selling the scabbards without a knife. In order to boost sales, the company had the bolos made in Japan to match with the scabbards. These bolos were near exact copies but had black plastic grip scales and a slightly different blade profile.

The bolo itself is in wonderful condition and does not appear to have seen much use, if any service use at all. The blade retains trace amounts of the original blade finish but it is mostly worn with past pitting present. The crossguard has minor surface oxidation with KIFFE stamped on the underside of the front portion of the crossguard.

The leather tip of the canvas scabbard sleeve is faintly marked:

BRAUER BROS
1918

The scabbard is in very good condition, with no real issues with the canvas or leather portions aside from the expected wear from 100 years of age, and a bit of fabric shrinking. Really a great example of one of these scabbards.

Overall in very good lightly used condition, and a great chance to add to any military knife collection. Ready to display!
