  • Original Item: Only One Available. This lovely double barreled pocket percussion pistol was almost certainly made in Liège, Belgium for the European and American export markets. These were quite popular for self-protection, and having two barrels definitely would give the owner increased protection. Pistols like this were equally at home on dark Streets of New York or of London in Victorian England. It features some lovely simple engraving on the sides of the lock, as well as on the tang of the receiver.

The smoothbore barrels measure just over 2 ¾" in length, and have grooves on the muzzle so they can be unscrewed, however they are currently frozen. The left side of the "box lock" frame is marked with E / L G / * in an Oval, indicating manufacture in Liège, Belgium. There are also faded CROWN / N inspection marks on the side of the barrels, a typical Belgian proof mark. The pistol measures 7 ⅜" overall, there are no other markings we can see besides the proofs. The pistol features a very nice wooden "bag" style grip, which is very comfortable to hold.

Condition of the pistol is very good, showing a lovely polished steel finish, with some areas of past peppering, now cleaned. This definitely looks to have seen a good amount of use during its service life. Both hammers will cock and dry fire, but neither holds correctly at half cock. The cap nipples are present, but definitely show a good amount of use.

A very nice early Victorian Era self defense pistol, ready to Display!
