Original Item: Only One Available. This lovely pocket percussion pistol was made in Liège, Belgium, most likely for the large European and American export markets. These were quite popular for self-protection, and the small size meant they could fit in small pockets or other places where they would be well concealed. Pistols like this were equally at home on dark Streets of New York or of London in Victorian England. It features an all brass frame and barrel with iron internals, and a lovely ivory grip.
The pistol measures 5 inches in overall length, with a 2 inch smoothbore barrel. There are no maker markings on the pistol except for E / L G / * in an oval on the left hand side, indicating manufacture and inspection in Liège, Belgium. There is also a proof next to this, as well as the number 6 on the under side of the barrel. The pistol features a lovely aged ivory "bag" style grip, which is very comfortable to hold.
Condition of the pistol is very good, still showing lovely mustard patina on the brass, while there is some oxidation on the iron components of the pistol. The boxlock is functional, however it does not hold securely at half cock at all.
A very nice early Victorian Era self defense pistol, ready to Display!
