Original Victorian British County Deputy Scarlet Uniform Coat - Circa 1880-1899

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Fine Tailor-Made Scarlet Uniform Coat for a British County Deputy (Official). Being that the original owner was most certainly a person of means, they did not hesitate in the slightest to have an exquisite uniform tailored specifically for them. Composed of extra fine melton scarlet wool, with royal blue cuffs and collar, piped in white. The uniform is lined with a fine silk that has been quilted at the chest.   The  uniform features Brandburg Style Cuffs with ¾” wide silver bullion ribbon, and German-Style swallow tailed rear vent at the skirt. The Coat features a single breasted front, with eight buttons (marked “J.R. Gaunt & Son. Ltd/ London, ENG.D.”) with three buttons on each cuff, and six on the vent at the rear. Sadly, the epaulettes are not included with the uniform, but the securing loops, and one screw faux button is intact. Some mothing here and there, as expected, and some signs of storage and handling wear from over the decades.
