Original Unissued U.S. Lend-Lease British MkVI Signal Flare Pistol by Harrington & Richardson with 1942 Dated Holster in Box

Item Description

Original Item: Only one available. This is something we have not had before! Here we have a wonderful U.S. made flare pistol by Harrington and Richardson, who had previously made flare pistols during the first world war. These pistols are characterized by beautiful traditional manufacturing methods of forging and machining, and are really a thing of beauty. The pistol is completely unissued, still in the original packaging, which is packed in another box along with a British P-37 Khaki flare pistol holster.

These pistols were made for Great Britain under the U.S. "Lend-Lease" program, which had started before the U.S. officially entered the war. The Mark IV was ordered from H & R by the British Purchasing Commission on 25th September 1941. 15,000 pistols were ordered from the USA, due to the shortage of British manufactured ones.

The top of the machined barrel is marked with the H & R address logo:

HARRINGTON & RICHARDSON ARMS CO.
--- WORCESTER, MASS. U.S.A. ---

The side of the frame is marked with MARK VI / ONE INCH, giving the specification of the British design. Breaking open the pistol reveals a serial number of 11262 on the bottom of the barrel, which matches the numbers on the bottom front of the grip frame and on the breech locking lever. Condition of the pistol is unissued and excellent.

It comes in the box complete with an unissued P-37 Khaki Flare Pistol holster, maarked M.S. & U. LTD 1942 under the flap. It also has a Canadian "Broad Arrow in C" marking as well. There is a bit of grease staining from the pistol packaging, but it is otherwise like new.

A great Lend-Lease flare pistol set from WWII, ready to display!
