Original Item: Only One Available. This is an original scarce WW2 US Western L77 Commando fighting knife in very good condition. Features a sharpened 7 inch blade that is marked WESTERN BOULDER, COLO. PAT NO 1,967,478.
Blade maintains 80% of its original bright finish, has minor sharpening scratches. Steel cross guard is tight and in excellent original condition. Stacked leather washer grip is lined with multicolored bakelite washers at its top and bottom. Handle washers are tight with no play or movement. Bright steel pommel, affixed with two steel pins, is in excellent shape.
Original Western double stitched scabbard is in excellent condition with its stitching and five rivets in good order (a few small areas of stitches are missing). Back of its grip strap button is marked UNITED CARR. Information on this knife was obtained from pages 235 and 236 of the book KNIVES OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY WORLD WAR II by Michael W. Silvey.
